When I open up my driver’s side window (the one that’s automatic) it makes a loud crack when it first opens. At the moment it begins to open. It’s always been this way at least for some time but it’s recently gotten much worse. Does it need some kind of lubricant?

Can you get a recording of this noise and post it below?

More than likely the regulator is binding and could be lubricated but if the glass is loose or not aligned properly you may have to replace it.

Hearing the noise will help determine what is happening.

Here is a guide that will help with this process if we have to replace it or even remove the door panel to find out what is going on in there:

What I would suggest is removing the door panel and inspecting the regulator while it is opening and closing so that you can see if there is something binding. If not then most likely you will see be able to see where the noise is coming from and if lubricating is required which you will be able to do as well with the panel off.

I attached the info below from the manual on the regulator as well if you need it.

Please run through this material and let us know what you find with this. Thanks

Is it more than likely that my worst problem would be the noise and it won’t likely just stop working?

The noise that I am imagining, it will eventually stop working or worst case the regulator breaks and the window is not held in place any longer.

However, if this is different then what I am imagining then it may be no big deal. So let's get a video of it and that will get us on the same page. Thanks
