getting intermittent noise squeaking grinding ticking rubbing?

More then likely this is telling you that the brakes are worn out and are getting to metal to metal. Most pads have wear indicators and that will cause noises at times.

However, you are correct that the road salt does cause different noises at times but normally it wears off and does not reoccur until there is more salt put down. So if this happens when there was no salt put down then I suspect the brakes just need to be replaced.
