Transmission lost second gear; can I just swap transmission? or are there going to be computer issues?

I attached two pics below. There were two options for these vehicles. if you look at pic 1, that provides the part numbers for the 1995, and pic 2 has the 1997 info. Both the 3T40 and the 4T40E were available. In theory, they should work, but you need to make sure the two are the same type of transmission. In other words, a 3T40 is replaced with a 3T40.

Here is what I suggest. I can look at numbers in the manual and still be wrong. I hope you understand. So, I would place the two side by side and compare them. If they have the same sensor locations and it's the same model, it should work.

This is the trans that came out of the 95. Can you tell me what it is?

I believe that is the 3T40. See pic below. Let me know if you can find the tags indicated in the pic. It should have the model on it.
