So, my husband lost the keys. I bought a new ignition lock cylinder, but it turns out it's wrong. I need a dashboard mounted that has six prongs in back. I drilled the lock cylinder out in hopes of using screwdriver, but it came completely out. My question is, can I buy any lock cylinder and insert it into the ignition switch? Or even convert and use the one I purchased that's column shift one? Also, where can I get a chassis Manuel?

Hi,

You will need to get one specific to your vehicle. As far as using any, there is a lever that runs down the steering column to a switch. If it isn't the right one, chances are it won't work properly.

What model vehicle is this? I'm hoping I can find the directions for you to replace the ignition lock cylinder.

Let me know.

Awesome, thank you for your response. It's a 1976 Dodge 440 it's an RV that was my grandmother's that I kind of took over and going to remodel and stuff like that. but anyway, we like I said we drilled out the cylinder and everything and we can actually take the wiring and jump it and stuff. So, it starts but I don't know I just need to find a new lock cylinder or if I need to find actually the lock cylinder with the ignition switch with as a whole unit.

Where can you find a manual for this year's model vehicle? I am having the darndest time locating it online anywhere and I found one, but they want me to pay like $100.00 and that's crazy.

Hi,

Are you looking for the manual for a cab and chassis or for the company that put the camper body on it? When Chrysler made the vehicle, it would have been sold as a cab and chassis. So, I would suspect it would be a D300 which is a one ton. It could be a 3/4 ton as well based on the size of the camper.

If you type in 1976 Dodge D300 repair manual, things will come up. Here is an example:

Let me know if that helps.
