Key programming or bypassing programming

My son lost the original key. i bought a new ignition and key for it i don't have the money to take to a lock shop or dealer to code the new key. is there anyway to by pass that?

Sorry there really isn't. However you don't really need to change out the ignition assembly. Most locksmiths an call to get the original key-code just like a dealer. Then they cut you new keys and erase the old ones from the system. You will need to show proof of ownership and ID to do this but it allows you to avoid more work of changing the ignition and then programming the BCM to read it and still needing to program in the replacement keys.
