A engine light came on with a down arrow and I push on the gas and nothing happens. I can't get it to go above 5 miles an hour. I had someone look at it and he said I need a sensor that connects to the throttle body. Can you confirm this or do you think I just need to clean the throttle body? I'm not an expert on cars but I am hoping it's something I can replace to keep me from having a hefty maintenance bill. Please help I need my car for work by tomorrow.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Did he tell you what diagnostic trouble code was found? There is a TAC (throttle actuator Control) system. However, if that is the issue, it isn't a simple sensor. However, there is a throttle control motor on the throttle body but I believe that is integral and isn't something that can be replaced by itself. There is also a throttle position sensor on the gas pedal that may have failed.

I need to know what code was found; otherwise is becomes a guessing game. Is it possible for you to get that information?

Let me know.
