Long turnover before ignition

Car started taking longer to start.Turns over fine, and one running it is very smooth, no warning lights. Over the last 6 months, is is taking longer and longer for it to start.

I changed the plugs about 10,000 miles ago, it did not make a difference, and turnover time continues to increase before starting.

Once running, if you turn it off and shortly after start it again, it starts right up immediately.

Any suggestions, something in fuel system like a pump or filter?

Does this happen more often when the fuel tank is full? If it does, the evaporative system purge valve could be sticking open and drawing raw fuel and flooding the engine, which makes for a long hard start. Also the issue could just be a leak-down of pressure from the fuel pump. If this is the original fuel pump, very likely that it could be causing your issues. You can do a fuel pressure leak-down test with a gauge. Another possibility is a leaking injector, which can present itself as a long hard start with black smoke out of the tailpipe and a slight rough idle for a few seconds. 48-70 psi is the spec for the fuel pressure, If the regulator in the pump is bad the pressure will drop to 0 in less than 1 minute.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to pay attention to gas tank level. I have started it 4 time recently, and it only would not turn over for an extended cranking period once.
