I'm adding a BTS-GM1X Bluetooth Streaming Interface to my vehicle XLT model. To do so, I need to hook it into the Digital Radio Receiver. The instructions I received from Crutchfield and the images I was able to find from the Chevrolet service manual both indicate that the receiver should be directly behind the glove box. Unfortunately, it is not. I've fished around all inside the cavity behind the glove box without any luck. Does anyone with more experience than me know where I can find this?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

I checked my manual and it indicates it is behind the right side of the dash. It will pull down. It may be behind what I see in your picture.

I attached what I have, let me know if it helps.

I've dug around inside the glove box compartment without any luck. I pulled off the head unit and some other trim pieces and can't find anything like what is described in the instructions.

Welcome back:

Sorry to hear that. Honestly, that is the only place they indicated it ever being placed. I even went back to 2012 and 2011 thinking it may have been a model year change, but everything is exactly the same. I do, however, have a great friend that owns an automotive stereo shop. It's too late right now to call him, but if you want, I can try tomorrow.

Let me know.

Thanks Joe, I would greatly appreciate it. It's now become a matter of principle to me that this thing is going into the truck whether it wants to or not at his point.

Thanks,

Chris

I just got home from work and stopped on my way. He has the exact same information I have and you have. Is it possible that it was an option and wasn't included in your vehicle?

I'd never really used the XM radio before, but I was pretty sure I had it and a buddy of mine had the same thought, so he had me check that too. Snapped a photo of the XM tuner on channel 0 and it spits back a Tuner ID. So it is there in the truck. But the whereabouts remains a mystery.

Ugh! I have no idea where they could have it hidden. The only other thing I can think of is if repairs were done prior and it was moved.

Hi. Chris, did you ever locate your XM radio? I have the same vehicle and trim as you, and am facing the same problem. Even though I have current, working XM service, when I look behind my glove box I don't see the radio unit at all. There are a few wiring bundles but none look like what's pictured in the BTS-GM1X instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
