Loud rubbing after install of front brakes rotors

Put on new front brakes and rotors and all was good until eight hours. I backed up out of parking spot and loud rubbing noise dry rubbing noise it stopped making the noise as I got up in speed. the noise was not there before the new rotors and brakes were installed well at least not as loud as it is now. This car is from Illinois. it is a rust bucket. I already had to get the e-brake removed as the pins rusted off and it was a load horrible noise. Now new brakes and front rotors I just wonder why the noise is so apparent after the new brakes and rotors or is that just coincidence? And is it safe to drive like that? The ABS light is on 80% of the time and the "4wd" light nlinks on and off randomly.Thank you in advance

Pull off the tires and check for rust/crud near the wheel speed sensors. Rust builds up and rubs, that would also trigger the ABS light if the sensor is rubbing or rust is causing an issue. Also, looks like the lower ball joint needs work. As for "safe to drive" all depends on what the noise is. If it is just rust then clean it off and it should be okay. If it is actually a bad hub or similar then it needs to be repaired. Do not forget to check the rear brakes as well. Noises can be difficult to pinpoint from the seat, you can hear something and swear it is in the front and have it turn out to be in the back.

Thank you so much it is a rust bucket the car was from IL. I have one more question, the brake fluid looks black I need to get that changed would that have any thing to do with the noise I am "sometimes" hearing ? I drove the car the next day after posting my question and it did not make that horrible noise.

Hello, I got in the car to go to Walmart and I paid attention to what you had said in the first reply can I hear the rubbing when I am backing out of my driveway and the other night when the noise was heard I had backed out of a parking spot. I did not think of that until I read your reply. thank you again. I really appreciate your assistance. Susan

Brake fluid will not cause a noise, but dragging brakes will. I am used to rust creating noises being in central New York where rust is as common as air. Noise in reverse, I would check the rear brakes for rust, broken return springs on the brake shoes or similar issues.

Thank you again. what time are you? would you tell me like I know it is initiated when I go in reverse I do not hear it as often or anything when I do not go in reverse.

One thing you can do that is not hard, if this happens at low speed (walking pace or so) you could have someone walk along as it is making the noise and see if they can narrow down or record the noise at each wheel.
