Linkage from sport mode to regular mode broken

Okay, so I heard a thunk after pulling out of a parking lot. I immediately entered another lot and once stopped my shifter would shift but did not engage at all. Now I have sport mode on my vehicle. So, I was thinking that maybe the linkage broke due to the swapping from sport mode back to automatic. Please help, I cannot send it to the shop right now!!! Thank you so much for any responses or helping me solve my issue. My name is Janeal and I would be much appreciated.

Hi Janeal,

It sounds like the transmission shift linkage has come loose or undone which would cause the problem you have. In the diagrams below are the instructions on how to fix the problem or at least rule the linkage out, it might be something has failed inside the transmission, but let's try this first. Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
