It sounds like you have low compression or an injector going out but to be sure lets go over this guide to confirm the issue.

Please run down this guide and report back.

A few days ago I was in Troy, Montana. I started the car drove about 25 miles and stopped for snacks.
When I started the car again it had a small miss. I
continued home, 300 miles with the slight miss. Now
when car is cool in morning no problem but after it warms up starts missing again. After going to the Ford dealership and being told it's 2 hours for a diagnosis at $60 per hour then labor and parts thereafter I decided to try another option. I've purchased new plugs but after trying to find the old ones, HaHa, thought I'd come online first. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong. Things aren't the same under the hoods any longer. I used to find and fix many things but not any more

Thanks

Gary

Gary:
They sure are different. If you look at the engine, you will see a coil pack for each cylender. You need to remove the pack to access each plug.

Is that what you needed?

Hi Jacob and Nick,

I discovered the issue with the coil pack. I 'm looking for your idea of what is actually happening with the car. Help with the diagnosis. The car is in excellent shape then begins missing. No black smoke from exhaust, so may I rule out injector failure?

Thanks guys,

Gary

Well, it could be several things. It could be just what you are replacing, a weak plug. Also, when you remove the coils, check the boots to make sure there is no evidence of them arcing through the boot. I have seen that happen before. also, has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

I have a 95 Lincoln Town Car. A couple of weeks ago, my car started running terrible. A friend suggested I change my fuel filter. I got the filter and before I put it on, the check engine light came on. Ok, I change the filter and hook up the diagnostic machine and it gives me the error "misfire on cylinder 5". I reset the codes so that it will take away the check engine light. The car runs great for about 1 or 2 days until the check engine light comes on again. I hook it back up to the diagnostic machine and it gives me the same code "engine misfire on cylinder 5". My cousin suggest I replace the coil for number 5 which is on the drivers side. After replacing the coil, the car still runs the same. I think I will try the spark plug or plug wire next, but I have heard that there is a special way to take the spark plugs out of this kind of engine. Is there a certain procedure to change the plugs (get the engine hot first) and do you think that this could be the problem or is there another suggestion???

A bad plug or wire can cause the missfire, last tune up was? Remove the plugs with the engine cold...apply a small bit of anti-sieze compound to the threads of the new plugs...also grab a noid light and check the injector...measure the resistance and compare your reading with the other injectors.

Inspect and test the crankshaft position sensor. On right front of engine, near right ignition coil.
