Disable chime

Locate the Light control module behind the center of the dash, look for a blak/pink stripe wire, cut it or remove it from the connector, leave enough room to reconnect it, I have never cut this wire, so I dont know if the security system will be affected or not! Check email for PDF it has the diagram.

I found the Lighting Control Module. It has four harnesses going into it. I disconnected the lower, pass. side harness connector, and the car acted like the alarm had been triggered. All lights started flashing, but the horn did NOT sound (thankfully). Then I disconnected the lower driver's side harness connector. I found the black wire with pink stripe in this second harness. I reconnected all harnesses to the LC Module, openned the driver's door, and inserted ignition key, which activated the hated chime. I then crossed my fingers and snipped the black/pink stripe wire and ... the chime was silenced!
I then attempted to start the car, and it wouldn't start. Keepimg my cool, I figured that since the car "thought" it was being tampered with, I should probably lock and unlock the car using the key fob remote, and that did the trick. She fired-up, and no more door open-key in ignition-chime; Praise the Lord!
I must have set some kind of record today. I fixed/reset the heater and killed the chime, all with the help of merlin2021. Super thanks! Chris.

Okay. Key in ignition, door open, no chime. That's the good news. BUT, chime does sound when I switch the ignition down (with door open) to the accessory position to get the radio to heat-up. SO, I need to kill the chime AGAIN. Help ?

Again I havent done this, so use the same caution with this one. Dark Blue wire on the light control module controls the LF door ajar switch, try that one! Also take note the horn wire appears to be that same color! If horn dosent work after cutting the wire, you cut the wrong one!

Thanks again. Thanks for help with the second wire. I cut dark blue #1 with door ajar chime sounding, and nothing. I tried horn, which still worked, so ??? So, I repaired #1, and cut #2, and ... silence! Silence is Golden! No more key in accessory, door ajar chime. Yea! Thanks! Chris.

So the dark blue, LF door ajar wire did it? Good deal.

Yes. Chime is gone. Only drawback so far, is at night, opening LF door does not turn on cabin lights anymore. But it's a price I'm willing to pay to be free from that super annoying BING BING BING. Happy day! Chris.

That is the only drawback, if door is open, computer does not know it!

My '96 Town Car got to where the chime would NEVER turn off. Cutting the blk/pnk wire worked like a charm!!
