1993 Lincoln Town Car rear shocks

dont know for sure if its the same but I had the same problem on my merc marquis. Passenger side. I ended up using a drill like the one you use to cut a hole in a door for a door knob for a home. I drilled a hole in the trunk just above the shock. I zipped the nut of using a 9/16 socket and impact. Put the new shock on. Replaced the peice of metal that I cut out and sealed it. I'm sure thats probably not the correct way to do it but it worked for me.
