I have just purchased a 93 Lincoln TownCar. It looks great but burns oil pretty bad. (a lot of blue smoke.)
How long could the engine last if there are no repaiirs?

No way of telling
keep it full of oil will give you the max amount of time

suggestion - have the cylinder compression checked
to determine if the piston rings are shot. Most likely
your valve guide seals need to be replaced- (not as
expensive as a ring job). Go to lincolnsonline.com
and click on to the Tech section & get some good ideas.
Believe it or not this is not high mileage for this motor
- the 4.6 liter V8 is very hearty and can hold double what you have - be patient and check out the web site.

Worse case scenario try using 15W 40 motor oil & I bet
it doesn't smoke as bad --- good luck
