1990 Lincoln Town Car

The steering wheel is locked, I turned the steering wheel to straighten tires without key in ignition and it locked the colum now when i put the key in ignition it wont turn to start the car and the steering wheel wont move.. how do i unlock the colum cant find the switch to unlock it to start car.

Sometimes if there is too much tension against the lock in the column it can keep it from working. Try turning the steering wheel while turning the key, if you can take some of the load off the lock it may turn.If not the column will have to come apart to see if something is broken
