Engine Mechanical problem
1988 Lincoln Town Car V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
Parked my Lincoln in carport and it wouldn't start when I went back to drive it , later . My husband thought the battery was dead , checked that , then he says all he can figure out is the fuel pump is not working . When he puts gas in the throttle body , it will start , when the gas burns out of it , it dies. When you turn on the key , it turns over , but won't start. Can you help me? He says where is the fuel pump?

Hey i have an 88 lincoln too, it got to were it took forever to start and it didnt used to and the motor bogged down sometimes, so i replaced the fuel filter and i starts better and runs better. When i took it off i couldnt even blow air trough it . You may want to try replacing the fuel filter because it is verry inexpensive mine was only $7.99 and even if that doesnt fix it any car can use a new fuel filter! The fuel filter is right in front of the passenger side back tire ,

it is pretty big and the only thing i saw with two hoses running to it, it should have a red plastic mounting caseing around it .Im pretty sure you are supposed to replace the fuel filter ever 3,000 miles and my car has 166,300 miles on it so if yours has high milage it could be very possible this is the problem and if the filter is clogged up and the fuel pump cant push fuel trough it will burn it up!Good Luck i know we love our lincolns!
