1983 Lincoln Town Car Why is my car leaking oil?

Go to a different shop, have them check to see if the oil change was done properly...I have seen loose plugs, oil filters installed incorrectly...

First check you oil level? If you are low on oil you should fill it to the proper level and go back to where you had it changed. Ask the technician if they seen any leaks, and have them check to see if the properly tightened everything. You are safe to drive your car if you have your oil at the proper level. Thanks, JoE

Joe I disagree...and here's why, if something happend due to negligence, you will give the at fault garage a way to hide information from this customer...I agree to fill the oil, then start the car, check for any sesvere leaks before it's driven, if the oil light is on and the engine makes noise DO NOT DRIVE!!! This will mean a possibility of low or no oilpressure, can be caused by a sevsere leak, or bad pump...This condition can ruin the engine beyond repair. If it shows any of these signs...tow it! it takes only seconds to destroy an un oiled engine!

You should give the business that changed your oil a chance to look at at fix anything they may have damaged or overlooked. Everyone makes mistakes.

But you are right, definitely dont drive if you have a severe leak or hear loud noise.

Joe normally I agree with that view, but not if an oil change was screwed up!

Not to be-little anyone, but they usually hire young people for very little money. They dont have much experience or know how but I would at least bring it to there attention....most companies want to keep customers happy and coming back.
