For what it matters, there is a tsb out there for CEL showing misfire codes and low compression that leads to a cylinder head replacement.

Gladly.

TSB-Technical Service Bulletin.
.....This is a bulliten put out by the manufacturer to potentially helpor guide a technician mostly to help diagnose a problem.
CEL-Check Engine Light

Sometimes a TSB is the magic bullet. Somteimes it's just a blank.

Hello,

I would double check to make sure you have the correct cylinder and then recheck the compression and each of the component you have replaced. It sound like you may have got a defective ignition coil.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

I have a 2001 Lincoln Navigator with roughly 87,000 miles. It's a automatic with just about every bell and whistle installed. I heard some engine noise and the check engine soon light came on. I was near a Lincoln dealor and drove into the shop. the dealor told me with out looking at the vechicle that it sounded like I needed a new engine. I asked him to do a compression test, which they did and he said that their was only 50%. He told me that they did some investigating and forund that the #7 plug had been blown out. He also said that only half of the plug pieces were recovered, and that when it blew the plug stripped all the threads out of the cylinder. He said that their is no way to get a plug back in. Is this common? Does it really sound like I need a new engine? Are there any alternatives that I can do to get by until I get back from Iraq when I have more money to spend on a new engine? I leave in a month and only need to drive a very short distance.

Well.....To do a compression test, you need to thread the gauge into those very same threads the spark plug goes into. So how could they get any kind of compression reading if they can't thread the gauge in?

I would get the truck out of there and find an independent garage. If the threads are blown out, a helicoil may be able to be installed that would possibly work.

One question I have is why did this happen to begin with?

I don't have a specific site; however, there are many that will ship parts. Also, when looking for the vacuum leaks, pay close attention behind the throttle body. There is a hose that has a 90 degree bend in it. They are known to leak there.

Computer problem
1999 Lincoln Navigator V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic 168K miles

I've had the service engine light come on several times. The dealer replaced the oxygen sensors 2x (both) and later traced wires that indicated an electrical problem and repaired. 3 months later the service engine light has come back on and the Dealer states I need the fuel pump replaced but I've had no problems starting the vehicle. I have however heard a strange sound coming from the engine. Can a fuel pump going bad cause the service engine light to come on?

Ok first call around and find a local parts store that does a free scan and have them do a scan and get the codes and then have them clear it get back to me with the codes.
Next the engine noise call your ford dealer and give them the vin number and find out which engine you have. What I would like to know is 4.6ltr or 5.4ltr and is it Romeo built? get back to me and we will go from there.

my ABS light keeps beeping and now my service engine light came on yesterday. Also, every time I lock the car with and without the alarm system, my locks keep going up and down until I manually turn it on and off. sometimes I find that my battery is completely drained flat and I have to jump it again. I just put a band new battery in there. Please help! I appreciate it and thanks for your time.

You need to get the various systems scanned to see what fault codes are stored. The ABS light could be a bad sensor, wiring or the ABS module. The code that is turning on the light should point to that.

The SEL light will also have a code or codes stored. Those can be just about anything on the vehicle. The code at least gives you a breadcrumb to start at.

The locking issue sounds like a problem in the BCM, which may be what set off the SEL.

I went by AutoZone and for free they checked the codes and found I need an O2 sensor. Where are they, how many, do they all look alike and have the same part number ?

Hello,

The O2 Sensors are located in the exhaust system.
Did you write down the code, it will tell you exactly which sensor has failed. Also, depending on the code it may be something else that is causing the sensor to read faulty.

So if you have the exact code post for better diagnostic.

What three sensors did you replace? Also would help to know what the codes were? If they were lean codes, I think you're barking up the wrong tree. Let me know and I'll try to help you.

Check engine light:

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

It indicates that the computer has recognized a component failure and has stored a code to identify it. Take the car to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free, and then you'll know why the light is on.

Let me know what you find.

I have been told my truck needs an engine plug. The check engine light came on and that's what the error code came up with. The repair shop says they need to do a R&R on the transmission (cost $650) to get to the faulty part. Is the repair worth it?

worth it is a personel choice as the condition of the vehicle and your financial situation to lay out a ton of money for a new car

codes never identify bad part, just failed systems

what was the code?? do you mean freeze plug??
