I just purchased a 2003 Lincoln aviator with 55000 miles on it. It has a automatic transmission with 2 wheel drive.
The problem is a loud roaring fan noise starts when the outside temperature hits 100 degrees and over. Under that temperature the engine is very quiet and the temperature gage shows normal at all times. The engine never overheats. Do I need to replace the fan clutch or some heat sensor to get rid of this noise.
Engine is a 4.6 v8
My son has the same engine but it is Quiet all the time.
