2003 Lincoln Navigator Clicking/ticking noise

I have taken my car in under warranty several times for a clicking/ticking noise. I was always told they either did not hear the noise or could not find a problem. The car was also making a loud noise on startup which they finally heared and replaced a part but the clicking never stopped. Now a few weeks later the warranty is expired and the A/C compressor locked up on the car. Could this have been the problem all along?

Absolutley could have been, whether it is or not remains to be seen. One more of the many reasons I do not like the warranties that provide a promise but not satisfaction. Once the compressor is replaced, you will better know.

A clutch on the compressor can come apart and make more of a jingling kind of a noise rather than clicking.

If the noise was intermittant, that can make for a tougher verification and identification of the source.

To say they maliciously avoided it because of warranty may not be true, but I have seen this happen with some shops. A couple of our local dealers have avoided repairs on new cars. Just recently a 2009 cobalt with a water leak has not been repaired, but the customer was told that it was normal. They were able to fabricate repairs that she was told she needed however. Getting a second opinion on those repairs from me, found such repairs unneeded.

I own a 2004 Navi and it had that same problem. So the ticking noise means one of ur lifter valves are not working right so get that fixed cuz it could mess up your heads. the raddling noise on the start up is from the a/c get it swapped and that should fix the problem.
