1998 Lincoln Mark VIII Heater not working?

Good Evening,

I've just drove this car back to Nevada from California where my mom and sis checked it out (or so I thought) and purchased it a couple of weeks ago on my behalf.

Well, Vegas got hit with a cold snap, an I went to turn on the heat and nada. (They can't remember trying the _heater_ as it was around 100* the day they looked at it and the guy who sold it said, "Everything was working except the window washer sprayer.")

Obviously, I'm feeling pretty down about this. I read in the forum about turning the key on and hitting off and floor then auto w/in 2 seconds. It looked like it was "thinking" then it was either [-][-][-] (000?) or 888. (BTW - I did it several times with the same results.)

So, dear kind readers where do I go from here? All input is most welcome and most sincerely appreciated.

When you turn the AC/Heater On -Do you hear the blower motor and blowing at the same time?

Other then the fan there is no sound inside the car. I will start the car and listen in the engine compartment. Can you tell me what side of the engine the blower is located and what kind of sound it would make?

You can hear it inside at the pax side behind the glove compartment buzzing away like a small motor running-

Other then the fan: What do you meant with this-What other then the fan-explain

Sorry for the confusion:

When I said "other then the fan" I meant the standard AC/Heater fan. I hadn't notice any other sound, but will go out now and take a listen for "buzzing" behind glove box.

First I turned on the key and put the temp up to 90* then I made sure the fan control was all the way to the bottom (off) and then pushed the off button. I opened the glove box and started the car then hit automatic.

The first sound was like a squeaky door opening then I thought I detected a twirly sound. Then the fan started to blast, an any other noise was drowned by it. (Hope this helps!)
