1987 Lincoln Mark VI. V8 75,000 miles. This is not my car but I want to help get it moving. The problem explained to me is that the car runs after charging the battery but then quits. Since the alternator, battery and starter have been replaced and appear new, I guess it's the regulator or the wire going from the alternator to the regulator. This wire registers 67k ohms when tested with only the battery disconnected. What appears to be the regulator has not been replaced and I did not check for 12 volts at the alternator with the key on. It's obvious that the battery is not being charged.
Any help gets this car out of my life.
Thanks,
Warren

An 87 should be internally regulated.Be sure the brush retaning pin in the back of the alt is removed, I have seen them come from rebuilders that way.
