My steering wheel does not return to it's 'rest position' when the ignition is turned off. The reminder chimes ring when the key is removed from the ignition. I can still, however, adjust the steering wheel with the buttons on the steering wheel, but it will not return to it's resting position when the car is turned off. I've ruled out the motor on the steering wheel, since I can still adjust it, is it a fuse or a crossed wire, or something else that is preventing it from going up when the car is shut off?

According to Ford, if the steering wheel is close enough to the rest position wheel the key is turned off, it won't move at all. It has to move a considerable distance. If this is not the case, there may be something wrong with either the sensor in the column or the module itself.

Thanks for the quick replies! I've been worried about this, since, the car is my brothers, and he is overseas in Iraq for the next six months, and has left me to care for his car...... I worry any time something seems 'off'.

One more question, LOL, any idea of what this *should* cost to repair? I want to get it done as soon as possible, but I would like to walk into the situation knowing a bit about how much I am potentially paying. Car dealerships and repair shops around here like to take advantage of the fact that I am 1. a girl, and 2. know absolutely nothing about Lincoln's.......
