Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Lincoln LS Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Just finished putting a new timing chain kit into my lincoln and was taking it on a test ride. The car started right up, idled well, and I drove to the corner of my street and turned around to go back to the house....on the way down the street the car just quit running and when I tried to restart the engine the starter would not crank...just a single click. I put a load on the battery to check it and the battery was fine...all the cables were clean....all connections seem to be fine....checked the starter...had a little corrosion but cleaned that up...but still will not crank the starter...any idea what I should try next??

Check and test starter motor, starter relay, transmission range switch and ignition switch-for it to stall like that sounds like the ignition switch
