Hello,
I came across your site while looking up problems with a 2001 lincoln. I am single mom of 3 boys and am looking at buying a 2001 continental. What if any are the big problems with this car and year? I really dont want to bury myself with car trouble in this economy. I feel safe driving lincolns and grand marquies. My last car was a grand marquie and it was the best car I have owned, Could you guys help me in making a good safe decision? I dont have a father or male figure in my life to ask these questions. :(
I have attched a pic of the car. You can also see the specs at Imperial motors.com , They are located in Detroit Michigan. Vehicle # 1lnhm97v81y603919
Thank you so much for your time,
M Smoke

Those and their sister cars the Crown Vic's are solid cars. They have a few minor issues with ignition coils and sometimes with the air suspension. As far as the air suspension goes, Strutmasters makes a nice kit to eliminate the air ride part, I have installed a few and they work/ride well.Do a Carfaxx to be sure it hasnt had any major damage and be sure that it isnt a Salvage title.Be sure to check and see if theclimate control works properly (heat gets hot and a/c works) and that they have done all services (Trans, rear diff, drive belt, tune up) should have all been done by now.
