can u replace the air with a gas shock? if so would it be a good idea

I just saw an air bag eliminator kit installed on a 99 Friday, it came out great.The company that sells the kit makes it easy and the kit is complete with struts and springs, and the instructions on which wire to clip to make the warnings stop going off in the car.
