Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction

The pressure sensor must be bad. It will allow too much fuel to the engine and that is what causes the black smoke. Basically, the engine is flooding.

I put a "fuel rail pressure sensor" on the car a month ago and the problem has not come back. Thanks!

Having an ongoing problem with the car. It keeps consistantly setting code p0190. Sometimes it is hard to start. would ether of the following cause the check engine light/p0190 to come on, "running out of gas", or "wrong fuel grade"

Neither should cause that. It is either the sensor or the regulator.

So what is actually setting the code could it possibly be inconsistent fuel pressure. Or something more along the lines of a bad wire, short, or high resistance in FPR sensor or cuircuit. I checked fuel pressure and it is right at 30psi and stays the same when revved up. Is this a normal condition?

The pressure should change when you rev the engine. Have you checked the how to check fuel puressure section in the DIY section?

The pressure should be between 45 and 60 psi.

Where is the fuel pump relay? I need to do a flow test. I hooked up a gauge and looked at fuel pressure while driving under heavy load and gauge was reading 30 and going down to low 20s when accelerating. Fuel pump has been replaced.

There is a relay block under the hood. However, I don't think that is the problem. Have you checked the regulator?

No, I have not checked the regulator. I am open to anything right now and need to narrow the problem down. Not to get off on rabbit trails but sometimes the fans come on right away when engine cold.

Pull the vacuum hose off the regulator. If there is any fuel in it, replace it. The code could be caused by the low pressure at the rail. I really feel the low pressure is the problem. I don't want you to purchase the sensor until we are sure. They are expensive and I believe only available via a dealer.

I had put a new FPR sensor on it 6 months ago and I am still getting this code. I'm not shure where fuel regulator is, Or is it the sensor combine. I pulled the vacuum hose off the fprs and there is no gas in it. What should I check now?

I found out that fuel pump pressure is controled by FPDM (fuel pressure driver module) and interacts with PCM. FPRS sends signal based on load. All I need now is wireing diagram for FRPS PCM and FPDM. thanks for posts !

I have the same problem....changed out FRP sensor. Service Light came on within a week. If I fill the tank up with gas, the check service light goes off in a day or two. When it gets to half a tank the service light comes back on. Not sure if its the regulator, it could be but I thought if that went bad you would typically smell gas inside the cabin...not sure. The dealer saying its the fuel pump, not conviced especially for $700.

There are fellers who will do this job for $200, on the labor end (you supply the parts) or less, and know what they are doin'!

If you aren't one of those "Upity" souls, and are willing to investigate the Country-boy methods of getting this task completed...I'll throw out a few possibilities.
