4.6L, 136,000 miles. Drove one hundred miles, city and highway. Once, after starting the car after it sat in a parking lot for thirty minutes, it would not idle, stumbling and stalling. Had to rev engine, maybe half throttle, to get it to move. After it got going, it ran fine the rest of the day. The next day, it cranks but will not start, does not even try to fire. Scan tool passes; no codes. Half of tank of gas, fuel pressure is 37 psi at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Inductive timing light shows no spark at plugs. PCM relay is okay; swapped it with the blower motor relay to test it. Fuses to the PCM are okay. PCM supply voltage (B+) and reference voltage (5 volts) is okay; checked at the PCM wiring harness.

This sounds like the crankshaft position sensor has gone out. Here is a guide that will help you see what you are in for when changing the sensor out:

and

Here is a where the sensor is for your car. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers

Thank you. The car fired right up got the new sensor for $45.00 and now back on the road thanks a million. I love this site.

Get a helper disconnect a spark plug wire or two and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground, have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer.

Main issue is not getting power to the coils packs.

Power is supplied via the red/light green wire by fuse # 11 (10 A) in under dash fuse box.

Engine will start some times but rarely. It has new coil packs, new leads, new plugs, new ignition switch, new crank and cam censors, fuel pressure is great. No spark at the plugs, but when it does start it runs great.

Scan for codes and try a security system reset. See link.

Is there fuel in it? Pour a bit into the intake and crank it, see what happens.

My car will not start or turn over. Could it be the ignition module?

If the starter is working and the engine cranks but does not start, check to see if there is spark to the plugs and fuel to the injectors. There are directions on our homepage under the DIY section.

If the engine does not turn at all, check battery, check connections and terminals, check to make sure there is power to the starter.

I ordered a ignition module, because it would not turn over or do anything. The battery is good to go.

Start with the basics, and work your way up, Last tune up was? Wires plugs all filters? If all that is okay, check for a stuck EGR, then test fuel pump pressure, If it will not restart, determine what is missing, the engine needs three things to run, Spark at all plugs, gas to all cylinders, and compression in all cylinders, tho an engine may run lacking one in one cylinder, it will not run very well.

Go here and checkout our video:

and this one:

Also, it would not hurt to scan for code(s), handheld scan tools that plug in under the dash are cheap, and work on all cars sold in the USA since 1996.
Scan and post codes.
Check the wiring harness that runs behind the engine by wiggling it and retrying to start it.
