Girlfriend was driving about 45 mph and the car jumped out of gear and the engine revved up real high. There was no popping or grinding sound but the car would not move. She then managed to drive the car at a very low speed to the house. I went to check the car to find there was no reverse, only first and second gear, the check engine light was on as well as the traction control light stuck on. i then assumed the car to be in limp mode. After checking the park neutral switch i then took it to have the codes read. I do not remember the code number, but the main code that popped up was solenoid 1 or A stuck open or closed. I then changed solenoids A B & C as well as the fluid which seemed a little dark and slightly burnt, but still had some lubrication. After changing the solenoids (with battery disconnected) and the fluid, the check engine light as well as traction control light went off. However the problems still existed. The car with new solenoids still seems to be in limp mode but is no longer throwing a code to the ECU to cause the check engine light to come on. There really seemed to be no problem with the car before hand except when starting the car it would sometimes rev a little high and the starter would grind a little because it was taking longer to disengage which started only about two months or so ago. But i am kind of lost on what to do. i cannot afford a shop by any means, nor do i have the funds for a rebuild. And checking things like the bands, clutch plates etc are the last option i wish to take. At the moment i cannot find my multi-meter so testing is limited as well. Any suggestions. Need any other information just ask.
