My back liftgate hatch will not open?

My back liftgate hatch will not open. It is stuck closed. I have tried everything to open it. The display with I start the car says it is open, although it is stuck closed. How can I open it to fix whatever part is malfunctioning?

So, you are going to need to remove the panel to expose the manual pull handle. Here are instructions on how to find it. Once open you should be able to see why it is stuck closed or replace the latch mechanism. Check out the images below to show you how.
