License Plate Light Bulbs wiring diagram needed?

The wire to my license plate light bulbs is broken. It looks like someone tried to splice them using butt connectors but know I can’t tell what they connect to.

Looking at the wiring diagrams there is a black wire and brown wire to all the options for the rear license plate light. See the wiring diagram attached. Ensure you are getting power and ground (exterior light switched on) with a test light when repairing your license plate wiring.
