is it a transmission problem when I can't go pass 40 MPH because when I go over it feels like it's going to fall apart?

Im going to need a little more info. Does it vibrate? does the steering wheel move in your hand or does the entire car shake? Does it do this @ 40 mph regardless of how much throttle you give it or what street it is on?
