Transmission problem
1999 Lexus RX 300 All Wheel Drive Automatic 115000 miles

Wondering what would happen if car with slipping transmission had filter and fluid changed - could car become temporarily "fixed" or drivable? I've heard that this is a "mask" and not a "fix" - your thoughts? What about adding certain additives to the fluid as well; what could the net effect of that be?

Hello .. thanks for the donation .. much appreciated changeing the filter and fluid on a trans already slipping tends to make the slip worse and the trans will not shift at all sooner .. adding a trans slip addative can help in the short term .. it all depends on how bad the slip is ? Basically the only real fix is to have the transmission repaired .. I would not advise a filter and fluid service at all ! Hope this helps
