My car (1998 Lexus LS400 w/Air-suspension) has just recently developed a 'whining' noise from the engine bay, more so on the left side. The sound is almost like that of a supercharger whine, but it fades away above 2000rpms.
However everything seems to be running fine, the power is all there, the brakes are fine, the power-steering seems fine, the A/C is working and the compressor for the air-suspension is also working fine and the transmission is fine too. Plus the check engine light has not lit up yet either.
The only weird thing is last night while driving home my battery light came on and this morning my battery seemed weaker than usual but was still enough to start the car. Although later in the day it did require a jump start and now its battery is fine again after some more starts and stops. I am confused?
Could it be the power-steering? Or do those fail fast and not over time i.e slowly getting worse?
What else could it be?
