About 8 days ago car died. I was driving at about 55 mph with the acceleration at 2.5. Without warning the acceleration dropped to 0 the check engine light went on and I had to pull over to the side. So far I've replaced all six spark plugs, replaced the battery, and replaced the fuel filter, and did an oil change.
When I turn the key I hear the engine try to start, but it doesn't seem to want to turn over. I'm thinking about the timing belt. Like the spark plugs, nothing except the oil and batter have been replaced since it was purchased. Any help would be appreciated, please let me know if I should be looking somewhere else to fix my car or if it is the timing belt.
However, if you do suggest I check the timing belt. I don't have a clue where it's located, on top of that being a Lexus es300 - and if I were to do this on my own. What type of tools or parts would I need to replace it?
