Hi lexoguuy, Here are the procedures. You would need wrenched for disconnecting the pressure and return pipes and basic tools for removing bolts. POWER RACK & PINION NOTE: Before removing power rack and pinion, secure steering wheel in centered position. If steering wheel moves during removal or installation procedure, air bag cable reel must be recentered. Removal Mark universal joint and control valve shaft for assembly reference. Remove bolts on universal joint. Separate universal joint from control valve shaft. Separate tie rod ends from steering knuckles. Disconnect pressure and return hoses. Unplug pressure control valve harness connector. Remove rack and pinion assembly. Installation 1. Center rack assembly. See Fig. 1 . If pressure or return tubes have been removed, reinstall using new gaskets before installing rack assembly. Tighten union bolt to specification. Ensure steering wheel and air bag cable reel cable are centered. 2. Align reference marks. Connect rack assembly to steering column universal joint. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Bleed system. Adjust toe-in.

Depending on the speed that you are in, the rpm would only drop slightly unless the transmission has been shifted to neutral. The system is designed to keep the engine running close to the transmission and road speed to prevent excessive engine braking in high speed mode.
