The vehicle listed above is an SEL. I replaced the left wiper motor that was not working correctly with a new Motorcraft motor.

It would work intermittently if I tapped the arm with some persistence. Now it will not work at all. The right side is controlled by the left and will work if the left works.

I also replaced the 50-amp fuse in the engine compartment before I replaced the motor as I could not tell for certain if that had blown.

I suppose the new motor could be faulty, but it was brand new. Am I missing something?

I read something about a Ford scan tool if the battery is replaced, so I did not disconnect the battery when I replaced the motor because that is not in my scope of knowledge. Again, the right side does work if and only if the left works.

Thanks for your advice.

There is only one wiper motor so if one works the problem is the wiper arm pivot. here is how to check for the problem in the images below. Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Yep, my bad, I should have looked, something new, both wiper motors share the same ground and power supply that leaves the BCM being out but to be sure we should do a CAN scan, you can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) from Amazon from about $32.00.

Here is a video to show you how:

Amazon CAN scanner Link.

Here are the wiper wiring diagrams so you can see how they work and how to replace the BCM in case you need it. I would get a rebuilt BCM so it will come preprogrammed, you can search google or eBay. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
