My left hand indicator intermittently needs pressing down hard to make it work. Obviously after a week of this happening continuously, when I took it into VW it worked just fine! Now it is happening most days, with bursts of it working okay (with just the usual flick down).
Any ideas please?

Sounds like a bad turn signal switch. they just want to verify the problem so they can make sure that is what it is. I do not blame them.

Without verifying the problem and seeing what is going on it is hard to say what the actual problem is. Lets just say they said, oh I think it is a bad turn signal switch and replace it. Of course they charge you and it is not going to be cheap to do. Then it happens again your going to go back and really complain you paid a lot of money to fix the problem that is not fixed. So now there going to have to stand by the repair and fix the true problem. I would not feel comfortable just saying it is a bad turn signal switch without seeing it happen, there could be even having to disassemble things to see what is going on. I especially would not want to do that if it was not happening. If I did not find anything then I might have to go in there at a later time. That is the best most honest answer I can give you on this problem.
