I am trying to get the part out of the transmission and cannot find the clip that is holding it in. So I can replace the drive axle.

Thanks. So that means the housing around it has to be moved to assess the clip?

stick a large screwdriver or flat bar where arrow is and push on axle it should come out unless this is rear wheel drive then there will be four bolts holding it at backing plate.

This is what I'm looking at where the drive axle come out of. I have tried slide hammers and even the vise-grip method to try and get it out. Even tried to use a pry bar on the other side.

take the bolts out around the shaft and see if whole mess will slide out.there may be a bearing or bushing frozen to axle then you can take the bolt part off of axle to see what is really wrong.
