oil leak in the middle

A good first step would be to find out where the leak is coming from. An engine can leak from a number of places. It could be from valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, oil drain plug, oil filter, any of the engine seals etc.

Can you tell if the leak is from the front or the back of the engine?
