what is the average milage before the front rotors are replaced? If the front brake pads are replaced is it must that the rotors should be replaced as well?

Hi there,

There is no set life for brake rotors, there is a min thickness for all rotors and when this is reached the rotor must be replaced, rotors will wear at different rates depending on type of pad used, driving conditions and drivers braking habits, there is no reason why you should not get 3-4 sets of pads out of a set of rotors, machining is not always required when replacing pads, and you certainly don't have to replace rotors with each set of pads, ( saying this i have seen that later model BMW's do suggest replacing rotors with pad changes) but this is the exception not the norm.
