car has been great to drive but today would not go into gear i pressed the 4 wheel drive button and then it went into gear thought i must of just knocked it by accident to started to drive home was stuck in traffic so went into neutral and put handbrake on. went to put it in 1st gear and again it wouldnt go in tried 4 wheel button again nothing happened kept trying had all road blocked behind me had to just put hazards on. after about 30 minute it went back into gear and was able to drive home and park on drive been out a couple of times to check it and it goes straight into gear any suggestions what could cause this thanks
