When accelerating car stutters till you stop accelerating, then it runs smooth as long as you remain at a constant speed, seems to be getting worse in the last couple of weeks. Have not had a tune up this year, wondering if that could be it or could it be a dirty air filter or something else. thanks

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires

I have a 2001 Land Rover Discovery Series II. I know it can be any of this issues, but I rather start where you did. Also, would you happen to know when the fuel filter is located? If it's in the gas tank, do I have to remove the entire tank, I would imagine it to be heavy with all that fuel and does it need to be drained first? Thanks again.

I already replaced all the spurk plugs and wires which didn't help.

I've been having the same issue since mid-summer. I put new plugs in, and that made things better for about a month. Then I installed new wires, and that didn't seem to help at all. My next steps will probably be replacing the MAF sensor and O2 sensors, but would like to know what you others are up to. Last time I had the code read, I had two P0302 (misfire on cylinder 2), but for the past two days, the SES light has been flashing and the performance has been twice as bad...

The weirdest part, it seems that the problem worsens when the outside air is very humid/damp. Could that be pointing to an electrical problem?

The last code check also stated Misfire and O2 sensor problem. I too replaced all the spark plugs and wires, no difference. From what I read, this might be related to the fuel filter which I can not seem to find anywhere. If you know where it's located, please let me know and I change mine and let you know if anything improved. My engine light is also flashing sometimes. Other issue is with the ABS madule. All the lights that are related are on.
