2001 Kia Sportage 4 cyl Automatic
I bought the kia from someone and three days later it broke down. if I came to a stop, the car would not accelerate and speed up, the harder I would hit the gas the slower it would go. One day I took my foot off the break and the kia shifted really hard about 7 times and then sped up without my foot on the gas, the check engine light came on and when I got to my destination the car started idling, later the engine light went off and the car did the same thing and sped up without me touching the gas and the light came back on and I went to pull out and the car just shut off. Now the car won't turn over and if we get it to turn over when we hit the gas it just dies. I was having problems with it cranking as well. We replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the idle air control and soon to replace the fuel pump.
Can anyone give me any ideas on what might be wrong with the kia?
