Hi there, I can understand your frustration with this as the oil is checked at the speedo drive, you have to undo the cable, undo the 10mm lock bolt, with draw the drive wipe down and use it as a dip stick, the oil should be up to the top of the drive gear, see pick.

P.S just be careful not to push the drive in to hard as you can damage the nylon gear.

Find the fill plug-remove the fill plug,stick your finger inside-if you can feel the gear oil you're ok-if not refill it with gear oil (80W 90) until it flows out-then plug it back in.
