2008 Kia Sedona Wiring for a 3500lb trailer hitch

I recieved two quotes to wire and install a 3500lb tow weight hitch on my van. One installer says they need to wire from front of vehicle to the back and install some kind of volt/amp booster. They said if this booster isnt installed it could damage the vehicles computer.

The other installer says the booster isn't needed.

The cost is substantially higher if I have to install the booster. If I need it then I want to install it. If not then I dont want to pay for something thats not necessary.

What are your thought on this?

I picked up the trailer lighting converter (a Reese product) that adapts american trailers ( same stop and directional lamp on the trailer to the split lamp arrangement that most imports use) from a local car parts store for about $30.00 and wired it to the rear light wiring for parking, directionals and brakes. I powered the adapter (through a 20 fuse) from the rear 12 volt power outlet (rated at 30 amps so no worry there). I tucked the entire arrangement under the rear floor panel that the tail gate closes over and have been trailing for several years with no problems.

The only issue is that the trailer lights do not work when the car is not running (they also do not run the battery down if the engine is not running)
