2005 Kia Sedona car make screeching and rattling noises whe

I thought just my A/C was broken and being in MA I didn't think it was worth the cost to fix it, but now we are trying to use the heat and defrost and the car makes a horrible loud whining, screeching, rattling sound. It's so bad we don't use the heat (we didn't use A/C either). I am still under warranty, but I am not sure if this is something that is covered, and if its not, I don't want to go to the dealer ( I have to go to 2 different dealers depending on the problem because of my warranties!)

If we do drive with the a/c or heat on for a bit, the car doesn't accelerate as well.

WIthout being there, I would say the AC compressor is locking up. Even though you are requesting heat, the AC compressor turns on to dehumidify the air coming into the vehicle. That way, the defroster works faster and better.

I don't know what type of warranty you have, but if you have a list of items covered, check for the AC compressor as a covered component.
