I have A 2002 kia spectra -automatic trans- finally bought and paid for... wouldn't you know it?... It starts acting up. About 88,500 miles on it so far. This is the first real problem I've had with it. So here are the symptoms: Revving up between gears - specifically 1&2 and 2&3, 4th not as much but it does here and there. Not going into reverse immediately or a weak reverse suddenly jolting into normal reverse. A scraping sound coming from the from the driver side of the engine - for about a week it sounded as if something was dangling, giving off a "cowbell" sound when I would come to a stop or go over a bump. I gotta have more cowbell baby! - then the dangling cowbell just stopped and went away. Both the revving between gears and scraping started the same day. I dunno if they're related or not.
It scrapes mostly in the morning but it also scrapes in the afternoon just not so much. The revving between gears was bad during the summer. Reverse was almost impossible. No signs of any leaking fluids. Recently had the trans fluid flushed... the symptoms got a little worse then evened out again. I'm expecting transmission work but I'd at least like to have some idea of whats going on so I don't get taken.
