I just bought this vehicle it drives nice and I know it needs a sensor which I have and overall like it. but when I leave my key in the ignition on the off position it wants to wind over like it's trying to start. can anyone help me on this?

Hi,

If the starter is engaging with the key in the off position, something is shorting power to the starter. That is a concern. The first thing I need you to do is remove the starter relay and see if that prevents the starter from engaging. If it doesn't, then we know we have a short to power after the relay. If it does stop it, switch that relay with a different one in the box having the same part number and see if it makes a difference.

Here is a link that explains how to test a relay and wiring control circuit:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

I attached a couple pics below. Pic 1 is a portion of the wiring schematic for the starter system. I circled the relay and to the right, it indicates it is in the under hood fuse box.

Pic 2 shows the starter relay position in the fuse/relay box. It is relay number 63.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
