Can unlock the wheel bit won't turn past that. Shifter is locked in park as well but I am able to override the shift lock to switch gears. Wondering if it's just too old of a key or if I need to replace the ignition cylinder or if there's something else?

Hi,

Unfortunately, this is a common issue on these cars. If you Google the issue, you will find a lot of videos out there of people fixing this issue but that requires removing and disassembling the ignition switch.

If you want to do this yourself, let me know if you have an immobilizer system or not and I will send you the procedure for removing it. Thanks

I do not have an immobilizer system. I have replaced the ignition switch itself though but with no luck, key still won't turn pass the steering wheel unlock.

Okay. Can you get a quick video of what the key is doing just so I can make sure we are on the same page? I think I know what the issue could be but a video will confirm what I am understanding the issue is. Also, the quieter the better so that I can listen to what is happening as well. Thanks

Okay, This is not exactly what I thought. Did you replace the key with the ignition switch?

If you have a new key, the I would check the CIG fuse. I have not seen this cause the key to not turn but I am wondering if we have an interlock issue.

You said you can manually get it out of Park? Does the vehicle start in Neutral?
